An argument over fried chicken leftovers ended up with a Florida man attacking and choking his wife, according to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun.
Desmond Leon Brownlee, 45, got into a Tuesday morning quarrel with his wife over a lack of fried chicken leftovers at their Deltona home. The dispute escalated and Brownlee shoved his wife of four years into the bedroom and forced her to the bed, police said. He proceeded to hit her several times in the face before he placed his hands around her neck and squeezed.
"The victim described the feeling of not being able to breath," reads the police report. Their young daughter was asleep in the home during the 3 a.m. incident.
Brownlee's wife, Shay Alamo, was able to escape her husband's grasp and called the authorities.
Once police arrived the husband claimed he and his wife were arguing over food when she went berserk and began slapping him. He simply "raised his hands above his head and let her slap him," he said according to police.
But the sheriff noticed the red marks on Alamo's neck and the laceration on her lip. The sheriff determined Brownlee was the "primary aggressor" and arrested him, even though his wife did not want to press charges.
Brownlee was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and witness tampering. His bond has yet to be determined and he remains at the Volusia County jail.
