“Sin City 2: Dame To Kill For” bombed terribly at the box-office its opening weekend.

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” pulled ahead of Robert Rodriguez’s film with $17.6 million domestically. “Sin City 2: Dame To Kill For” made $6.5 million, which is about 10 percent of the film’ budget, according to ContactMusic.com.

TWC Distribution Chief Erik Lomis released a statement regarding the film’s disappointing sales.

“We stand behind the film, and Robert is a member of the Weinstein family. We never expected this level of rejection. It's like the ice bucket challenge without the good cause, and is a major disappointment," Lomis said.

The critics and moviegoers alike couldn’t get into the film, certifying “Sin City 2” rotten with a 44 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“For starters, it just isn't paced as well,” one Rotten Tomatoes audience user wrote. “Unlike the 2005 original, A Dame to Kill For switches between action and dialogue rather erratically, mitigating much of the narrative impact the first film had. And although much was made of the fact that two of the subplots were created exclusively for this movie, they don't gel at all with the comic-based ones, leading the first one to feel inconsequential and the second tacked-on.

“The acting and visuals are commendable, and the atmosphere is undeniable, but that's not enough to wholly redeem this somewhat disappointing sequel. It's not bad by any means, but I was expecting a whole lot more.”

The “Sin City 2: Dame To Kill For” starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jessica Alba, Josh Brolin, Mickey Rourke, Eva Green, Bruce Willis, Juno Temple and more.
