A New Mexico woman was arrested for a series of disturbing acts - she poisoned her roommate and boyfriend after the roommate learned she was having sex with her dogs, according to a criminal complaint filed last Thursday.

Shari Walters, 53, was allegedly caught naked having sex with one of her roommate's two German shepherds in a shed at their Albuquerque home in late July, the Albuquerque Journal reported.

The unnamed roommate, who walked in on Walters and the dog, later told their other roommate who was also Walters' boyfriend about the incident. He then broke up with Walters "because she was having sex with dogs," according to the criminal complaint obtained by the newspaper.

As the trio sat down to dinner that evening, the roommate and boyfriend complained their food and water tasted funny.

"Aren't you going to eat?" Walters allegedly asked her roommate during dinner, KOAT-TV reported.

Walters later told them she put rubbing alcohol in their water and toilet bowl cleaner in their food because the boyfriend broke up with her. Both roommates are receiving medical treatment for the poisoning, the station reported. The extent of their injuries is not clear.

As for the German shepherds, a veterinarian found minor injuries on both dogs and "unusual symptoms" in one of the dogs that suggests sexual abuse.

There was a concern that the dog could have contracted a disease that Walters reportedly had, but the vet said any alleged transmission from Walters to the dog is impossible, KOAT-TV reported.

Walters faces charges of aggravated battery, assault with intent to commit a violent felony and cruelty or extreme cruelty to animals. She was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center on $20,000 bail.

Walters - who apparently admitted to having sex with dogs since she was 14, has since undergone a mental evaluation at the University of New Mexico Hospital, the Albuquerque Journal reported.
