The next-gen exclusive “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will feature “microtransactions” to help gamers unlock content.

IGN reports the system is expected to work like in-app purchases; for a small fee, gamers can exchange money to obtain better quality items. Ubisoft’s Senior Producer Vincent Pontibrand talked about the "microtransations" during an interview with OXM at Gamescom 2014.

"If we think it fits the gameplay, or the brand itself, the core values, we're willing to take those risks. If not, then not. We're not going to make any compromises,” Pontibrand said.

Pontibrand adding the in-game purchases won’t negatively impact the overall gameplay experience. Ubisoft is expected to release more information regarding the “microtransactions” system soon.

It is unclear what kinds of unlockables will be available in the “microtransactions,” but IGN recently spoke about other changes coming to “Assassin’s Creed: Unity.” Ubisoft has taken great measures to revamp their gameplay mechanics in order to provide a refreshing experience.

For example, fans can expect different ways to complete “tailing” mission, which in the past annoyed gamers due to their repetitive nature.

“Mercifully there’s no mission fail in Unity if you fall too far behind or lose sight of your target,” IGN reports. “Instead, you could perhaps climb to an elevated point to see if you can locate them again, or simply abandon the tail entirely and pursue an alternative such as hunting down the thief with the key, or even just head to the cathedral and see if there's a back door or some other way to sneak in.

“If you’re the impulsive type, you might even assassinate the person you’re meant to be tailing before they have a chance to reveal any important information, and with the odd exception you still won’t fail the mission - you’ll just make it harder.”

“Assassin’s Creed: Unity” will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 28.
