Family of 4 Killed Driving to Memorial Day Getaway in Washington [VIDEO]

A family of four died over the holiday weekend when their car was submerged in a canal following a collision in Washington on Monday.

An adult male, believed to be Gabriel Ochoa, 35, an adult female, Dioselina Buenrosto, 33, and two young girls, Sandra Ochoa, 9, and Yesenia Ochoa, 4, were in their SUV at around 8 a.m. Monday morning when it collided with a smaller car in an intersection, then hit a guardrail, and finally plunged in a canal not too far from the Gorge Amphitheatre.

The vehicle was later discovered about 100 yards downstream from where the accident took place.

The family was on their way to a short getaway to celebrate Memorial Day.

According to reports from The Spokesman-Review, Grant County officials said the two adults were dead on arrival -- as they likely drowned according to coroner records -- and the young girls died later on at Quincy Valley Medical Center.

The driver of the other car only suffered minor injuries.

Gabriel Ochoa worked at a local farm, Stangeland Farms, for over seven years and helped tend to over 750 cows, said the farm's owner, Janet Stangeland.

"He showed up on time, did his job and had a very nice family," Stangeland said.

She added that her grandson attended school with the oldest of the two girls, Sandra.
