"American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy is adding another character to his freak show. Singer Patti LaBelle has just signed on to appear in four episodes of "American Horror Story: Freak Show," Entertainment Weekly reports. LaBelle will play the mother to Gabourey Sidibe's character and will be a local townsperson from Jupiter, Fla. who figures out what Twisty the clown killer is up to.

It hasn't been revealed when LaBelle's character will pop up in Season 4 but the veteran singer joins returning "Horror Story" members Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy.

Newbies include Wes Bentley, Michael Chiklis, John Carroll Lynch and Finn Wittrock. "Freak Show" will center on a 1950s freak show, one of the last in the country, ran by Lange's character. During the Comic-Con last month, creator Ryan Murphy (finally) revealed what characters would appear in the new season.

Emma Watson: Maggie
Sarah Paulson: Dot and Bette Tattler (check out a photo of the character here)
Kathy Bates: Ethel Darling
Michael Chiklis: Wendell dell Toledo, the ex-husband of Ethel and currently married to Angela Bassett's character
Evan Peters: Jimmy Darling, the son of Ethel
Angela Bassett: Desiree
Jessica Lange: Elsa Mars
John Carroll Lynch: main villain

Murphy has not officially announced Lynch's character but rumors claim he was cast as the clown killer. When the creator described Lynch's character, he said it's the "scariest creator so afar" with executive producer Tim Minear adding that it will "scare the shit out of you."

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" returns in October.
