“Captain America 3” will reportedly focus on Steve Rodger’s relationship with The Winter Solider, along with political issues that arise from the tension.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained to Yahoo! Movies how the dynamic between Captain America and The Winter Soldier a drive the film’s plot a few years after "Captain America 2."

“The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose. So it’s hard to get away from that nature,” Anthony told Yahoo, adding Captain America won’t be a "disillusioned antihero." “His morality is part of his superpower,” Joe added.

The Russo Brothers didn’t comment about the future of the franchise once Chris Evans is finished with “Captain America.” However, Comic Book reports actor Anthony Mackie, The Falcon in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” might be taking on the role after Evans.

“I don’t know. I mean I’m excited about it,” Mackie said, referring to possibly taking on the role of Captain America. “I think if it goes that way in the movies that it would take a long time, because there’s so many evolutions before that. You know, I’m excited to see Sebastian play Cap. I think Sebastian’s a great actor. But I love seeing Chris Evans as Cap, so I feel like they can go any way they want. I’m enjoying my part beside Cap. I’m in no rush to be Cap.”

Marvel Comics recently announced they would be retiring Rodger’s character in the graphic novels and passing the torch to Sam Wilson. The Falcon was the first African-American superhero in Marvel’s history. Wilson is a trusted ally of Rodgers and seems like the natural next step for comics.

“Captain America 3” is released to theaters on May 6, 2016.
