The Pittsburgh Pirates play the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday in Game 3 of their series. The game starts at 3:45 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast below.
Pittsburgh can complete the three-game sweep and make it four straight victories against San Francisco with a win Wednesday. The Pirates pulled away in the first two innings of Tuesday's 3-1 victory with homers from Josh Harrison and Travis Snider, and starting pitcher Francisco Liriano gave up only one run while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.
"I was just trying to hit my spots, make some good pitches," Liriano told the Associated Press. "My last start and tonight, everything's getting better pitching-wise and I'm getting ahead with the fastball."
The victory gave Liriano, who's now 2-0 with a 0.95 ERA in his last three starts, his first back-to-back wins since last season.
"I thought it was his best outing," said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle. "The fastball played so well, he was able to get them into a swing mode. This is a guy who was a huge part of the success we had last year. That's why I felt it was important to get him up and running again."
Giants manager Bruce Bochy blamed his team's recent struggles on their failure to produce at-bat.
"We're sputtering with the offense," he said. "We just can't string together a few hits. We have to find a way. It's tough to go through this."
San Francisco is sending pitcher Tim Lencecum (9-7, 3.96 ERA) to the mound Wednesday in hopes of snapping their four-game losing streak to Pittsburgh. Lincecum is coming off a loss Friday to the Los Angeles Dodgers, to whom he gave up six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Lincecum will be opposed by Charlie Morton (5-10, 3.40), who's also coming off a loss. He gave up four runs in Friday's loss at Colorado.
