The second round of the 2014 British Open Championship continues Friday morning. Below is a brief recap of Round 1, tee times and live stream information.
Rory McIlroy ended the first round sitting atop the leaderboard with a -6. Adam Scott tied for third with a -4, and Tiger Woods tied for 10th with a -3.
Woods, who played in only two rounds of competitive golf over the last four months due to back surgery, played well and kept himself in contention. More importantly, he didn't appear to be hampered by injury.
"I knew I could do I do it," Woods said, via ESPN. "That's why I was telling you guys it was so important for me to play at Congressional. The fact that I was able to recover every day, and the fact that I was stronger, more explosive the more days I played.
"I'm only going to get better from that point. And I'm getting stronger, I'm getting faster, I'm getting more explosive. The ball is starting to travel again. And those are all positive things."
Despite the solid outing, Woods acknowledged there're still improvements to his game he must make.
"Pretty much everything," he said. "I need to get everything a little bit better. That's the case all of time, anyways. But at Congressional, I made just some terrible mistakes mentally. My decisions weren't very crisp and I wasn't decisive enough. Today was totally different. And consequently I shot a better score."
Woods tees off Thursday at 9:05 a.m. ET, Scott at 4:26 a.m. and McIlroy - 9:27 a.m.
