Tennis star Novak Djokovic tied the knot with his fiancé Jelena Ristic in Montenegro on Thursday, July 10.
It's raining celebrations for tennis superstar Novak Djokovic. After winning the Wimbledon earlier this week, the Serbian flew home to marry his long-time girlfriend Jelena Ristic. The event, held in a park above a beach close to the luxury Montenegro islet Sveti Stefan, was attended by "the families, close friends and some hundred guests," said a source close to the families, according to media reports.
Glamour magazine reported that 250 guests attended the civil ceremony. Among the confirmed attendees were Djokovic's coach and six-time Grand Slam champion Boris Becker, Davis Cup teammate Janko Tipsarevic and his brother Marko Djokovic. The couple will also marry again in a Church wedding this weekend.
The 27-year-old player and Ristic are expecting their first child later this year. Djokovic made the announcement on Twitter in April. The couple started dating in 2005, and got engaged in September.
Local media reports said employees, waiters and staff had to sign confidentiality agreements. It is also reported that Djokovic and Ristic have sold the photographic rights to their wedding, but are donating all proceeds to charity.
Djokovic won his second Wimbledon earlier this week. He dedicated his win to Ristic and their baby.
"I would like to dedicate it to my future wife and our future baby...I'm going to become a father soon and I'm still preparing for that. It's a great joy in life," he said on court, after winning the match, according to Us Weekly.
After defeating Roger Federer in a five-set classic on Centre Court, Djokovic told reporters he was closing this chapter of his life and looked forward to "spending time with my family and my future wife."
