Demi Lovato stuns on the cover of Seventeen magazine as she dons an "Eighties retro outfit" with dyed purple hair, a bandanna tied in a knot and turned to the side, paired with a denim jacket.
The singer plays guest editor for the publication for its July issue. Posing with her hands gripping a pink leather jacket, she sports a denim shirt with a large floral bow resting atop her head. In an interview with the magazine, the singer talks about her struggles with mental health after suffering a very public breakdown in 2010.
"If things go wrong the first week of school it's not the end of the world. I know it may seem like that, but it's really not," she told the magazine. "There are going to be times where you will have bad days, bad weeks and even sometimes bad months-but rainbows always come after the darkest storm."
In April this year, the "X Factor" judge faced a lot of heat after some of her nude pictures were leaked online. Some of the pictures also showed the singer in intimate poses with her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama. Lovato didn't lose her cool and handled the situation with much dignity. However, she didn't rule out the possibility that more racy pictures may surface in the future.
"Demi has definitely come to the realization that more pics and even video might be released in the future," a source told Hollywood Life. "She thinks that it will be released around a time that she has something to sell like a song, book or something that goes with her career."
Earlier this week, Lovato fondly remembered her father Patrick who died last year after a long battle with cancer.
"Can't believe it's already been a year.. Wish I could've hugged you one last time.. RIP Daddy, I love you," she captioned a picture of herself and her father.
"My dad suffered from severe mental illness so at least there's peace in knowing he's not suffering anymore," she tweeted following the picture.
Lovato recently released her "Really Don't Care" music video which featured a surprise cameo from her boyfriend Valderrama. Other stars in the video include drummer Travis Barker, "The Vampire Diaries" Kat Graham and "Bridegroom" Shane Bitney Cone. Cher Lloyd, who lends her vocals to the track, is also featured.
