Charlotte's Douglas International Airport Wins Award For Most Consistent Data Access

Which U.S. city's attraction has the smoothest running and most reliable access to data? That would be Charlotte's Douglas International Airport.

AT&T awarded the transportation hub a number one spot for the second consecutive time based on results from Seattle analytics company RootMetrics, which gauged the airport's data performance in May 2014, according to company officials. AT&T also tied another entity for RootMetrics' overall score on a wireless network performance call, text, and data Internet evaluation.

To help the cause, AT&T installed a carefully placed and AT&T network supplying Distributed Antenna System.

"Our customers rely on staying connected while they travel," said Todd Lanham, AT&T's regional director of External Affairs in Charlotte. "They want to get in touch with colleagues, family, and friends before they leave or as soon as they walk off the plane. With AT&T, customers can read email, send photos, check the news, and much more while travelling.

"Our customers have told us they've been amazed by the speed and reliability of our 4G LTE network," Lanham added. There are more reasons than ever to choose AT&T. AT&T invested nearly $300 million in its Charlotte area wireless and wireline networks from 2011 through 2013, and we'll continue investing in order to give our customers the best possible experience."

"AT&T ranked first at Charlotte Douglas International Airport for data network performance, according to our research conducted during the first half of 2014. We tested data performance across all networks in publicly accessible areas within Charlotte Douglas International Airport, including common areas such as check-in, baggage claim, and terminals. AT&T ranked first in the Airport RootScore(R) Award for data network performance at Charlotte Douglas International Airport," said Bill Moore, RootMetrics' President and CEO.

AT&T established its 4G LTE capability in Nov. 2011.
