"The only reason we killed this man... is because Muslims are dying daily." Those were the words of a man involved in an ax murder that took place on a London street in the middle of the day on Wednesday. His statement, recorded on video, was taken right after he allegedly hacked another man to death.
The violent murder took place in the middle of the day on a southeastern London road, where the victim - believed to be a British solder, was wearing a T-shirt supporting a charity that provides assistance to military veterans - was first hit by the aggressors' car first, then beaten and chopped to death for the world to bear witness.
Speaking into a camera at the scene, one of the attackers declared that he killed the man in the name of Allah and swore that he "would never stop fighting" until Muslims were left alone, according to CNN.
The only reason we have done this," said the attacker "is because Muslims are dying every day. This British soldier is an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth."
"We apologize that women had to see this today but in our lands our women have to see the same. You people will never be safe. Remove your government. They don't care about you," he said.
In the video, one woman approached the men right after the murder in attempt to calm them down. She later told authorities one man looked like a "normal guy" caused a greater disturbance, when earlier this year, people close to the Boston Marathon Bombers described the Tsarnaev brothers as unalarming and normal, too.
Shortly after the incident, Prime Minister David Cameron said the images were "shocking" and that "no cause justifies this murder."
"One of the best ways to defeating terrorism is to go about our normal lives," Cameron said in a statement. "That is what we shall do today."
The identities of all three men were not officially confirmed on Thursday morning, but a BBC report said one of the murderers is Michael Adebolajo, 28, a recent Muslim convert. They also reported that the men had undergone "several investigations," but were not believed to be planning an attack.
