Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong'o bagged her first Vogue cover that has been titled "Lupita Nyong'o: Her Breakout Year."
Lupita Nyong'o was titled a fashion diva owing to her stellar appearances at award shows last season. Paving her way further into the world of fashion, the "12 Years A Slave" actress has now bagged her first big fashion magazine cover appearance as she features on the front of Vogue's July Cover.
Wearing a Prada printed purple-and-red dress for her close up, the gorgeous star poses with a huge smile on her face. The actress opens up to the magazine about her experience revolving around her Oscar win.
"I was really nervous about seeing myself in '12 Years a Slave' because it had been such a profound experience in all ways," she told Vogue. "I remember it being one of the most joyful times in my life - and also one of the most sorrowful. I didn't want my experience to be a vain one. But I will say that when I watched it, my heartstrings were pulled so tight for Solomon that I couldn't go into the ego trip. I cried - I mean, I was inconsolable. I wept for an hour after the movie."
The previous year and the beginning of this year has been good to the actress. After taking home several trophies this award season, she also bagged the title of the "Most Beautiful" person by PEOPLE Magazine. Nyong'o told the magazine that the best compliments come "when I have been called beautiful with not one drop of makeup on. And also before I comb my hair or put on a pretty dress. Happiness is the most important thing."
Nyong'o, who was born in Mexico and raised in Kenya, received the best supporting actress Oscar in March and also took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "12 Years a Slave." Her next big project is her role in Star Wars VII.
This is not Nyong'o first magazine cover. She's already featured on the cover of TIME magazine, Vanity Fair, Dazed and Confused and W magazine.
