Dad Whacks Teacher With Bat After 'Inappropriate' Texts Sent To Underage Daughter

A Maryland father decided to take the law into his own hands when he beat a teacher with a bat after he sent "inappropriate" texts to his 15-year-old daughter.

The altercation occurred last week after the Baltimore County Police Department was alerted to a series of text messages exchanged between the 15-year-old and a 42-year-old male teacher, News Net 5 reported. The father hit the teacher with a bat on Thursday after he showed up at the girl's Perry Hill home to talk to him.

"The girl's father told the teacher to leave, but the teacher refused," police said in a statement obtained by News Net 5. "The girl's father then struck the teacher with a baseball bat."

None of the names of the people involved have been released.

The text messages were first reported by the girl's mother at around 3 a.m. Thursday morning. Police read the texts and determined they suggested "an emotional relationship that seemed inappropriate for a teacher and student," police said. But police ruled there was nothing illegal behind the texts.

"There's nothing we've seen in the contents that's criminal," Elise Armacost, spokeswoman for the Baltimore County police, told News Net 5.

Once police decided not to press charges, the teacher went on his own accord to speak to the father at the girl's home on Vicky Road. Police arrived at the scene later that evening to find the teacher injured.

"The officer found that the teacher sustained minor injuries and advised him of the process for swearing out a complaint of second-degree assault (a misdemeanor)," police said, News Net 5 reported. "The teacher said he did not wish to pursue charges."

Police said the teacher could still bring charges against the father, but so far no charges have been filed. The father could also bring trespassing charges against the teacher if he chooses. The teacher has since been banned from the 15-year-old's home.

Police notified the Crimes Against Children Unit about the incident, which is now investigating the case, News Net 5 reported.
