The producer and singer of the infamous hook on Daft Punk's hit track "One More Time," has died, according to Rolling Stone.
Anthony Moore, known as Romanthony, was 45 and reportedly died of complications from kidney disease May 7, Spin reports.
Romanthony's vocals on Daft Punk's single "One More Time," off their 2001 album "Discovery" sent the auto-tuned hook in to realms of infinite popularity. But his soulful sound contributions to house music have made a deeper impact both during his pioneering years and to a resurgence of the sound now.
The sound he helped put in to the mainstream in the '90s and early 2000s made a recent burst in popularity, giving him more recent work after a lull in his career. The producer and singer had been working with other producers, including BoyzNoise and was influential in the selections for collaborators for Daft Punk's new album, "Random Access Memories," Spin says. Global Underground reissued Romanthony's 1993 song "The Wanderer" in 2012. Dim Mak of Steve Aoki fame Dim Mak picked up the Kevin McKay remix this year and released further remixes, according to Spin.
While not a lot is known about Romanthony's life in the mainstream sense, his work has influenced many artists who treasured him and are mourning his passing. Another singer who collaborated with him, Daone Remmidy, spoke of his passing on Facebook. Moore's sister Mellony Moore marked his death in a Facebook post Sunday morning, according to Spin: "My baby brother ROMANTHONY aka Anthony Moore passed away 7 May 2013 at his home in Austin TX. Our family is shocked with grief. A memorial service is being planned for a future date."
According to Rolling Stone, BoysNoize Tweeted Sunday: "Romanthony and me were working on such an amzing song together...He said it was the best song he had ever written. Romanthony was a big inspiration for many djs of us. his voice was the most touching in House music."
