San Antonio can close out the series against Portland with a win on Monday. They've comfortably won the first three games, including Saturday's 118-104 victory. Spurs veteran Tony Parker led the team with 29 points, something not surprising to coach Gregg Popovich.
"He's been the engine for us," Popovich told the Associated Press. "He started out really well tonight. He made shots, he involved everybody else. He was playing great D at the other end. He's really playing a whole complete game."
Parker redirected the praise back to Popovich and pointed to the coach's decision to give the starters rest during April.
"Pop, you have to give him credit. He looked at the big picture, and rested me (the last month)," Parker said. "When we started the playoffs, he told me 'Be ready to play 37-38 minutes a game, we're going to need you to play at your best.' And so far it's working."
Portland, meanwhile, must win on Monday to force a fifth game and extend their postseason.
"Monday is a new game, and we are confident we are capable of winning," Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard said. "It is also about our pride. We do not want to come out here and get swept. We still believe we can win a game - we have to come out here and play like it."
