Oklahoma City is looking to force a Game 7 with a win on Thursday. A 100-99 overtime loss on Tuesday put the Thunder into the position of playing for their postseason lives. Durant struggled in the previous game, shooting 10 of 24 from the field and missing a game-tying free throw in the waning seconds of overtime.
The Oklahoman called Durant "Mr. Unreliable," but Thunder coach Scott Brooks's confidence in his star hasn't waned at all.
"The great ones just continue to focus on the next game," Brooks told the Associated Press. "He's a great one. He's one of the greatest players in the world. He has to be able to continue to step up and take those shots, and he will. I have the utmost respect for his game."
Despite playing with their backs to the wall, Brooks is confident his team can win on the road and extend the series.
"We have a great opportunity to go in there and give ourselves a chance to win," Brooks said. "We've done that in every game in this series."
Grizzlies swingman Mike Miller led Memphis in scoring with 21 points in Game 5, and forward Zach Randolph added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
"Still a race to four," Miller said. "We like where we are, but we have a lot of stuff we have to accomplish yet."
The Grizzlies' defense has been on point, holding Oklahoma City to under 40 percent shooting in the last four games, according to the Associated Press.
