Is Prince William hoping that his son, Prince George, will never be King of England? Not quite, but the Duke did jokingly say that the royal baby is preparing for a life as a rugby player.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a state reception at Government House in Wellington, New Zealand where he gushed about his family and his love for the country.

"New Zealand is very special to me personally," Prince William told the crowd, E! News reports. "Thank you so much for hosting Catherine, George and me during out time in New Zealand."

He then started to talk about his son, who was being looked at elsewhere by his nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

"I swear I heard him doing the haka this morning," he said. "I hope that George doesn't keep you up!"

According to E! the haka is a traditional dance performed by the nation's Maori people.

"He's a boony lad and you'll be pleased to know that he's currently preparing for life as a [rugby] prop forward!" he jokingly added.

Prince George is more likely preparing - or will be soon - for the throne. The 9-month-old baby is third in line to become King - behind his grandfather Prince Charles and his father Prince William.

The royal couple, and their son, seems to be enjoying themselves in New Zealand. Middleton and Prince William were spotted on a date night after a day filled with royal duties and Prince George even got to hang out with other babies his age at a parent-child event on Apr. 9.

Prince George was photographed crawling around and playing with the other kids as Middleton chatted with the other parents.

"He sort of took control went into the middle of the circle, hunted out the biggest toy, propped himself up, and he owned the place basically," one parent, Grant Collinge told reporters. "He's bubbly, a little bit feisty too but a very friendly baby."
