Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived in Wellington to begin their three-week tour of New Zealand and Australia. The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in a red Catherine Walker coat and matching box hat by Gina Foster but her nine-month-old son, Prince George, is the one who stole the show.

All cameras were pointed at the royal baby who was wearing a cream colored cardigan over a white shirt, white shorts and matching shoes. The royal baby looked happy as his parents waved to photographers.

This is Prince George's second public appearance since his birth over the summer and his first royal engagement. To celebrate their arrival to New Zealand, Middleton wore a diamond brooch in the shape of a fern which is New Zealand's national symbol. According to the Daily Mail, the brooch was on loan from Queen Elizabeth.

According to royal aides the trip was planned well over a year ago but was designed to accommodate a baby, the Daily Mail reports. Usually when on a royal tour like this, the couple travels from city to city but because the Duke and Duchess brought Prince George along they will base the baby in three different "hubs" (Wellington, Sydney and Canberra),  the Daily Mail reports.

That way Middleton and Prince William won't have to spend too much time away from their son and will get to see him every night.

"It's a long way to go and [would mean] a long time away from their son," the couple's private secretary, Miguel Head, said earlier this month. "The tour has been designed with Prince George's consideration and comfort in mind. Taking a nine month old on a Royal tour is not a first, but it has not happened in this Royal Family's context for many, many years so there has been much to think about - as any new parent traveling long distance will recognize."
