Titter User Claims To Be With Al Qaeda And Threatens Plot Against American Airlines, Just For Fun

A Twitter user was in hot water with American Airlines after she suggested she is planning a terrorist attack against the airline.

The culprit, identified only as "Sarah," tweeted on Sunday that she is a member of al-Qaeda and is going to "do something really big," the New York Daily News reported.

"Hello my name's Ibrahim and I'm from Afghanistan," Sarah tweeted from the handle @QueenDemtriax_. "I'm part of Al Qaeda and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye."

American Airlines took immediate action against the alleged threat.

"Sarah, we take these threats very seriously. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI," @AmericanAir tweeted, according to the Daily News.

Sarah apologized right after the airline's response, letting them know she was only "joking."

"I'm so sorry I'm scared now," Sarah, who said she was 14-years-old, wrote according to the newspaper. "I was joking and it was my friend not me, take her IP address not mine."

Sarah, whose account was deleted as of Sunday night, became frantic with her apologies as her stunt spread around Twitter.

"I'm just a fangirl pls I don't have evil thoughts and plus I'm a white girl," she tweeted.

Sarah's tweet drew so much social media attention that American Airlines removed its reply to Sarah from its account.

"We took it down basically because it generated a lot of traffic," Dori Alvarez, an American Airlines spokeswoman, told the Daily News. "We took it down so we could better focus on our customers."

The FBI would not tell the newspaper whether or not they are investigating the alleged security threat. The airline said in a statement they take threats "very seriously."

"At American, the safety of our passengers and crew is our number one priority," the statement said according to the newspaper. "We take security matters very seriously and work with authorities on a case by case basis."
