Johnny Depp: Amber Heard’s Fiancé Subpoenaed to Testify in Bizarre Murder Case to Prove Defendant is Insane?

Actor Johnny Depp has reportedly been subpoenaed to testify in a bizarre murder case. According to TMZ, the 50-year-old actor was served with legal papers at the premiere of his new film "Transcendence."

TMZ reports that Depp will most likely have to take the stand in connection to a 2009 homicide where a Los Angeles limo driver has been charged with mowing down and killing a pedestrian. Nancy Lekon is set to stand trial later this month, but has pled not guilty by reason of insanity.

So what is the actor's role in all this? According to TMZ, Lekon's lawyer thinks Depp can prove that his client was insane at the time of the incident because she reportedly told police that she was in a relationship with the actor and was on her way to see him.

Her lawyer wants Depp to testify that he does not know Lekon and was never in a relationship with her therefore proving that she is crazy.

According to a 2009 report by the Los Angeles Times, Lekon allegedly ran over and killed 25-year-old Sonia Tauanuu. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The LAPD believe Lekon purposefully struck Tauanuu with her car after the two got into an argument.

Police officials told the newspaper at the time that Lekon had got into her vehicle, struck the woman and drove northeast through Skid Row with the body pinned underneath. According to NBC News, the two women had been arguing over drugs.

"It was a dispute over narcotics," Sgt. Dan Eun told NBC at the time.

Eun said that Lekon, who was driving an old 1989 Cadillac limousine, initially left the area after the argument and "came back intentionally targeting the victim."

According to NBC, when police stopped the limo they tried to save Tauanuu, who was still alive, but she died from her injuries at the scene.
