The Houston Texans reportedly want to trade their No. 1 pick in the 2014 NFL draft, and the Buffalo Bills have emerged as the top contender to trade up for the top pick.  While it's uncertain who the Bills are interested in, Dan Pompei of Bleacher Report says some believe they may select a quarterback.

Houston appears willing to trade their first-overall pick in the upcoming draft.  Pompei reports the Texans are "trying hard" to move down, and they may have a potential trade in the works with Buffalo.

"Word from the NFL meetings is the Texans are trying hard to deal the first pick in the draft.  They want to move down and acquire extra selections," Pompei wrote on Thursday.  "Sources say they might have a trade partner in the Bills, who appear interested in moving up.

"It is unclear who the Bills would want in a trade-up scenario.  Some believe they would move up for a quarterback.  They also could make good use of an offensive tackle such as Greg Robinson.  And it would be something to see them pair Mario Williams with either Jadeveon Clowney or Khalil Mack."

If Buffalo did move up for a quarterback, it would indicate second-year coach Doug Marrone no longer has confidence in EJ Manuel, whom he drafted last season.

Manuel finished his rookie season throwing for 1,972 yards, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions; he missed six games because of injury.

Trading up, as Pompei points out, doesn't guarantee the Bills are eying a replacement for their quarterback after just one season.  Marrone's team finished 6-10 last season, the Bills need to fill a number of holes both along the offensive line and on defense.

Texans owner Bob McNair said in January trading down was a "possibility."  The NFL draft begins on Thursday, May 8.
