Amazon App Brings Lens Lock Screen Widget to Take You Shopping Before You Unlock Your iPhone

Shopping starts on the iPhone lock screen.

Amazon's latest version of its app has added a new feature, a Lens widget, which is now available to add to one's lock screen and use to search for products that they see in person.

The company's newest feature is allowing users to begin their shopping experience right on the lock screen of iPhones, and users may find the products they need before they even unlock their devices.

Amazon App Adds Lens Lock Screen Widget

Amazon revealed in its latest announcement that it is expanding its visual search features on smart devices to help users easily shop on their devices and avoid the struggle of putting their search into words.

One of the features shared here is the visual search feature Lens, which is now being added as a lock screen widget for eligible iPhones.

According to the post, users are now given the chance to instantly launch the Amazon Lens camera search feature directly from the iOS lock screen and point their cameras towards items they want to find on the e-commerce platform.

It was revealed by the company that tapping on the Lens widget on the lock screen will immediately pull up the camera search feature right then and there, allowing users to instantly capture what they want to search in real time.

Amazon said that there is also a way to allow users to shop on Amazon's platform directly on the lock screen using the Lens feature and the other widgets made available by the e-commerce company on iPhones.

Amazon Lens Lets You Shop Before You Unlock Your iPhone

As previously mentioned, Amazon shared in its release that users no longer have to open their iPhones, head to the app, and use the Lens camera search feature to find the item they are looking for.

This is because Amazon said that users can get a "streamlined shopping experience" right on the iOS lock screen using Amazon's many widgets.

First, users should add two widgets to their iPhone's lock screen to unlock this capability. To do this, long-press on the lock screen to pull up the customization feature and tap on "Add Widgets" to pull up the available ones to add to the page.

Next, look for the Amazon app and select the Amazon Lens widget, and then proceed to also add the "Search" and "Orders" widgets alongside it to complete the experience.

With this, Amazon said that users may scan an item, search it on the app, and purchase it on their account right on the lock screen.
