The teenage suspect reportedly began to brandish a firearm that the 26-year-old homeowner had left at the property.

Two people are dead after a mass shooting in a Memphis park that also left six people hospitalized with gunshot wounds.

One of those victims was in critical condition according to the Memphis Police Department. One of the victims was later released from the hospital.

The shooting took place just after 7 p.m. in Orange Mound Park on the 2400 block of Carnes Ave.

Police say there was a large block party going on with as many as 300 people when the shooting took place.

Interim Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis told local media that it appeared that there were two people firing guns.

An unverified video on X showed a large group of people watching a car doing donuts on a basketball court when a long barrage of gunfire rang out and people scrambled to safety.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.

"We are working tirelessly tonight to identify the individuals who were involved in this shooting," Davis said, according to CNN.

Authorities said the party did not have a permit to take place.
