Maryland officials have issued an Amber Alert for an 11-year-old girl who was reported missing from the same home where her mother was found dead.
Caitlyn Marie Virts and her 38-year-old father Timothy Virts are thought to be with each other, Baltimore police told the New York Daily News. The two disappeared Thursday morning from Caitlyn's house in Dundalk.
Police have described Caitlyn as white, around 80 pounds and nearly 5-feet tall. She is most likely bespectacled, but officials are unsure as to what else she could be wearing.
Father Timothy Virts is white, nearly 6-foot-3 inches tall, and about 280 pounds. He is thought to be driving a 1999 black Dodge Durango with Maryland plates reading 5AJ4458.
Emergency response teams were called to the home at about 9:13 a.m. on Thursday with reports of a cardiac arrest. They located 36-year-old Bobbie Jo Cortez's body inside the house, but the 11-year-old was nowhere to be found.
"Police are concerned for the safety of Caitlyn Marie Virts, since she is not supposed to be with her father," officers wrote in a statement.
Cortez's remains were found in her bedroom, according to Baltimore County Police. The time and cause of her death are still unclear.
The 36-year-old mother of three reportedly allowed Timothy Virts to live in the Dundalk home with Caitlyn, her twin sister and a third sibling. Two other unnamed adults were also living in the house, the Daily News reported.
Cortez's husband Daniel is reportedly the name registered for the Dodge Durango. Daniel Williams Cortez is currently serving time for a handful of sex offense charges.
Law enforcement officials have reportedly opened a homicide investigation at the Dundalk home, according to the New York Daily News.
