On what was only the fourth day of their journey in the country, a 25-year-old travel blogger embraced her daughter as a 7.5-magnitude earthquake shook Taiwan.

Sakura Siegel, who goes by the handle @lostamulet on TikTok, recorded the moment the earthquake hit the building she and her daughter were staying in.

Sakura told the Daily Mail that she and her husband, who is originally from Taiwan, were planning to spend two weeks with his family in their home.

'So I've experienced earthquakes before. Smaller ones when I was living in Japan,' she said, 'I thought it was just going to be one of the small earthquakes. So I took my phone out and started recording.'

As the tremors intensified, she yelled for her daughter, quickly lifting her up and holding her close.

The earthquake hit shortly before 8:00 a.m. local time and damaged several buildings, which prompted tsunami warnings that extended to Japan and the Philippines.

The disaster has reportedly left at least nine people dead and over 900 injured.

Taiwan's Central Weather Administration (CWA) warned that aftershocks between 6.5 and 7 magnitude may occur over the next few days.
