Donald Trump's presidential campaign seems to be hitting its stride from a campaign contribution point of view.

However, CNN reports that he and his people have failed to match the fundraising of President Joe Biden, whose campaign contributions have also taken a decidedly accelerated turn as of late and widened an already large gap between him and his political rival as the two entered March.

February financial reports that were filed on Wednesday bear witness to the price of Trump's legal troubles as he spent more on legal fees than the contributions he received from PAC leadership in the same span.

President Joe Biden ended February with $71 million in available cash in his principal campaign account, which is more than twice the $33.5 million Trump's campaign has in cash reserves.

The filings also show the Democratic National Committee ended February with twice the cash of their right-wing counterparts, buffering the already significant financial edge over the political machine that Trump is still building.

The filings also show that the Democratic National Committee ended February with more than twice the cash on hand as its Republican counterpart.

Although some political groups affiliated with the presidential contenders refuse to disclose their monies to federal regulators, but what has been released shows a clear Biden/Democrat advantage as of the end of February.

According to a Trump campaign official, the Trump campaign, as well as a joint fundraising committee, raised $20.3 million in February and entered March with $41.9 million total. The Biden campaign and the Democrats raised $53 million in February, bringing their total to $155 million.

Analysts believe the difference in campaign contributions between the presidential contenders is why Trump is taking a "hands-on" approach to donors, personally meeting with contributors at his Mar-a-Lago club. He is also slated to lead a high-ticket fundraising in Palm Beach, FL next week.

The Save America leadership PAC Trump used to help underwrite legal fees incurred by him and his allies spent close to $5.6 million in February.

Those expenses topped the funds the Save America PAC received, which mostly came in the form of a $5 million refund from the PAC, MAGA Inc. Trump and company have reportedly diverted resources from an account intended to help Trump's campaign to pay off mounting legal fees.

Save America may be on track to run through the $60 million in refunds it requested from MAGA Inc. The former president is facing 88 criminal charges in four jurisdictions and is trying to secure a near half-a-billion bond to appeal his civil fraud ruling in New York.

The Trump campaign recently entered into a joint fundraising agreement with national and state Republican parties that will set aside some of the money it collects to benefit Save America, which may give a boost to the PAC's dwindling bottom line.
