The mother of a "hero" 4th grader shot to death while calling 911 during the Uvalde school massacre shared a heartbreaking tribute to her daughter months ahead of the second anniversary of her murder.

Amerie Jo Garza, 10, was among the 19 Robb Elementary School students killed by 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos when he stormed the Uvalde, Texas, school campus with an AR-15 on May 22, 2022.

Loved ones said Amerie Jo spent her final moments trying to use her cell phone to call 911 when she was fatally shot by Ramos.

"The day I lost you was the worst day of my entire life," Amerie Jo's mother, Kimberly Garcia, wrote on X Saturday, two months ahead of the second anniversary of her daughter's death. "Finding out how I lost you was the worst pain I've ever felt in my entire life and knowing that will haunt me for the rest of my life."

"I love you Amerie Jo and you should be here," the grieving mother added.

Speaking with the Daily Beast in the days following the mass shooting, Amerie Jo's grandmother, Belinda Irene Arreola, detailed her granddaughter's final moments.

"So the gunman went in and he told the children, 'You're going to die,'" Arreola explained to the outlet. "And she had her phone, and she called 911. And instead of grabbing it and breaking it or taking it from her, he shot her. She was sitting right next to her best friend. Her best friend was covered in her blood."

"My granddaughter was shot and killed for trying to call 911. She died a hero trying to get help for her and her fellow classmates," Arreola - who described the little girl as "super-outgoing" and a "teacher's pet" - added.

The gunman also killed two teachers before he was fatally shot by responding officers more than an hour after the shooting first began, according to investigators.
