What's sadder about the rare disease she got is considered to be incurable. She disclosed her health status via her official Instagram account on Dec. 8.

Celine Dion Diagnosed With Stiff Person Syndrome

Celine Dion recently said that her Stiff Person Syndrome left her with no choice but to cancel her upcoming tour in Europe. After that, she decided to postpone all her concerts.

"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it's been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I've been going through," said the singer via her official Instagram post.

The Canadian singer added she's hurt to let her fans know that she won't be ready to restart her tour in February 2024. Many of her fans showed their support for Dion.

One of them said that he prays that God will give Celine Dion the strength and faith she needs to overcome all the difficulties she faces.

"You've given us many beautiful songs to cherish forever. We'll continue to send prayers for your good health," added another netizen.

Meanwhile, others suggested that Celine Dion visit China, claiming that Chinese medicine treatments, such as acupuncture and TCM, would definitely help her get rid of her rare disease.

According to Business Insider's latest report, the Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare disease that is poorly understood by medical researchers.

This health condition affects the brain, as well as causes muscles to stiffen uncontrollably. As of writing, the main cause of Stiff Person Syndrome is still unknown.

When it comes to cures, health experts say that the rare disease is still incurable. Those who have it experience stiffening of limbs, torso, and muscles.

Aside from this, it also causes anxiety and depression. Doctors explained that the Stiff Person Syndrome can be triggered by emotional stress, touch, light, and even sounds.

This is why Celine Dion decided to avoid doing her concerts in the meantime.

But, since this rare health condition can be managed using anti-anxiety medicines, muscle relaxants, and certain antibody injections, the Canadian singer is still hopeful that she can perform for her fans again.
