A high-speed chase that lasted 45 minutes and spanned three counties in California's Bay Area over the weekend ended up in a crash and the arrest of five people.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the car was speeding in excess of 120 mph (193 kph), and the driver was wanted for reckless driving.

Officers were able to slow the car down after they successfully deployed spike strips, with the chase ending in Bay Point after the driver lost control and crashed at around midnight on Saturday (December 9).
A CHP spokesperson told the San Francisco Chronicle that the two people inside the car were minors.

Investigations on the chase are underway.
