Philippine President Bongbong Marcos contracted COVID-19 as confirmed by the Presidential Communications Office.
The positive COVID-19 result of the Filipino leader was announced on Monday, Dec. 4. PCO said that the president will be observed for five days while he is being isolated.

However, instead of showing empathy for the sick Filipino president, many netizens questioned his COVID-19 infection. This is because the leader suddenly gets ill after the bombing in Mindanao and a strong earthquake happened.

Bongbong Marcos' COVID-19 Infection Questioned by Filipinos
According to Rappler's latest report, Philippine President Bongbong Marcos has been infected by COVID-19. Since the Asian country suffered from a bombing and earthquake, many residents question the sickness of the Filipino leader.
They are asking if the COVID-19 infection will make Bongbong Marcos miss important meetings and announcements (again). However, the Presidential Communications Office promises that the president will still continue his scheduled meetings.
"The President remains fit to carry out his duties and will be continuing his scheduled meetings via teleconference," said PCO via its official Facebook announcement.
PCO officials also said that more updates regarding the health of Bongbong Marcos will be provided soon. While the leader's health is being monitored, the office said that Bongbong highly encourages Filipinos to take precautions when going out to the public.
PCO said that Marcos suggests getting vaccinated and voluntarily wearing facemasks when visiting places with crowded people. This is not the first time that Bongbong has been infected by COVID-19.
The Philippine president also got sick because of the novel coronavirus; specifically in March 2020 and July 2022. In another case, Bongbong also became sick on Nov. 23.
Because of his illness, he wasn't able to attend the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum. Hopefully, his latest health condition will not hinder him from making important announcements and attending critical meetings.

Filipinos Disappointed With Bongbong's COVID-19 Announcement

Many Filipinos were disappointed with the announcement of PCO regarding Bongbong's COVID-19 infection.
This is because some of them believe that the president is making another excuse to become absent from important meetings.
Others said that Marcos is only using the COVID-19 sickness excuse to avoid addressing the latest bombing in Marawi, which four individuals and injured over 40 people.
Meanwhile, some Filipinos are doubting the sickness of Bongbong Marcos, saying that the Philippines is the only remaining country where people are still contracting COVID-19.
