The tech firm confirmed that it is rolling out these new ad-free services all throughout the European Union; the EU, EEA, and Switzerland.

If you are in Europe and no longer want to see annoying advertisements on Facebook and Instagram, here are the latest details you need to know.

Meta to Launch Ad-Free Facebook, and Instagram Plans in Europe

Meta explained that it is launching the new ad-free Instagram and Facebook subscription services to comply with the regulations imposed by the European Union.

The social media giant confirmed that these enhancements will be available throughout the EU starting in November.

"While people are subscribed, their information will not be used for ads," said Meta via its official press release

According to The Verge's latest report, the ad-free Facebook and Instagram subscription services on the web will cost around $10 (€9.99). Meanwhile, Europeans need to pay more than $13 (€12.99) to have them on their Android and iOS devices.

However, Meta clarified that not everyone can have these new ad-free services since the company will only allow users who are 18 years old and above.

Aside from this, Meta also explained that the ad-free plans will initially apply across all linked Facebook and Instagram accounts. But, starting on March 1, 2024, linked accounts will have extra charges.

Europeans need to pay over $6 (€6) per linked account on the web versions and around $8.50 (€8) for the iOS and Android linked accounts.

In this photo illustration, three screens display the splash page for the Meta page on the Facebook website on October 29, 2021, in London, England. The Facebook company, which owns Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has announced that it is rebranding, changing its name to "Meta".

Meta clarified that as a business, it still believes in an ad-supported internet. The tech firm explained that advertisements allow users to have access to personalized products and services regardless of their economic status.

"It also allows small businesses to reach potential customers, grow their business, and create new markets, driving growth in the European economy," added Meta.

Since the social media giant believes that an ad-supported internet greatly benefits consumers and small businesses, it said that it will continue advocating for it.

But, since the company also respects the EU regulations' purposes, Meta said that it will commit to complying with them. All these details shared by the tech firm mean that the company's free, ad-supported Instagram and Facebook plans will still be offered in Europe.
