Britney Spears, also known as the "Princess of Pop," has split with her husband, Sam Asghari, following a 14-month marriage, and the singer shared a cryptic message on Instagram after the news broke out.

Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the development of their relationship. Spears and Asghari married on June 9, 2022, after dating for five years. It was the 41-year-old pop star's third marriage and the 29-year-old actor's first.

Asghari and Spears first met in October 2016 on the set of the singer's "Slumber Party" music video, and in January 2017, they went public with their relationship. In September 2021, Asghari proposed to his then-girlfriend with a four-carat diamond ring that had engravings of her nickname, "Lioness."

The pop star later announced her engagement with the actor in an Instagram post, writing, "I can't f**king believe it." The couple's wedding was held at the singer's mansion in Thousand Oaks, California, and was a star-studded affair, as per Fox News.

There were roughly 60 guests at the event, which included Madonna, Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton and Carter Reum, Kathy Hilton, Maria Menounos, Ansel Elgort, and Donatella Versace. In an Instagram post following the ceremony, Spears posted, "Wow !!! Holy holy crap !!! WE DID IT !!! WE GOT MARRIED."

The Princess of Popo added that it was the most spectacular day of her life so far, adding she was nervous all morning of the marriage. Spears said that the ceremony was a dream for her and that the party afterward was even better.

But after her recently announced split with Asghari, Spears posted an update about her life that was completely unrelated to her relationship with the actor on Instagram. She said she would buy a horse soon and noted that she had so many options that she had difficulty choosing.

Cryptic Instagram Message

Spears said that she wanted to call one horse Sophie and another Roar, noting that she was considering joining a camaraderie and asking her fans if she should wear a pink cowboy hat. According to E News, the 41-year-old singer then shared a photograph of herself wearing a yellow bikini top and black denim shorts while she was riding a horse on the beach.

In the first images following the announcement of Spears' split with Asghari, the Princess of Pop was seen without her wedding ring while driving in Los Angeles on Wednesday inside her white Mercedes-Benz.

There were also reports that Asghari, before the split announcement, moved out of the couple's shared home after an explosive fight regarding Spears' supposed infidelity. Currently, it is still unclear if there was any validity to the allegations.

Before the couple's June 2022 nuptials, they allegedly signed an iron-clad prenup that Asghari is now trying to re-negotiate. The agreement was drawn in Spears' favor financially, but the 29-year-old actor has demanded some financial compensation in exchange for his silence, said Page Six.
