Billboard has announced Taylor Swift's single "Cruel Summer" is about to rise to number 1 on one of its most competitive radio rankings, the Pop Airplay chart, four years after the song was released as part of her 2019 album "Lover." If the song does, which would likely happen next week, she would break the tie with some of the biggest stars on the planet.

Currently, the ranking of the tunes that reach the largest audience on pop radio in the US is occupied by Rema and Selena Gomez, whose single "Calm Down" returned to the peak position recently.

Swift would also become the most successful artist ever in the history of Billboard, with "Cruel Summer" becoming her 12th song to lead the Pop Airplay chart.

Currently on her global "Eras" tour, she would break a previously four-way-tie between herself, Maroon 5, Rihanna, and Katy Perry, who each had 11 tracks to the top of the Pop Airplay chart. She only tied the three other artists recently after her "Midnights" singles "Karma" and "Anti-Hero" spent some time at the top of the tally earlier this year.

The feat came 14 years after her very first chart-topper, "Love Story", in 2009. The song was recently re-recorded as part of the "Taylor's Version" of her album "Fearless."
