The 17-year-old was in the Paris suburb early on June 27 when police shot him dead after he broke road rules and failed to stop, prosecutors said.

Since the minor was gunned down just for fleeing a traffic stop, many people were angered and disappointed by the action of the Le Figaro police.

Because of this, riots are now happening in France. Some of these protests are violent; numerous protesters even burned down cars. Because of this, French cities decided to conduct a major police deployment consisting of 2,000 extra officers.

Protests spread across French cities. A town hall office was even burnt down by protesters. After the death of the teenager, people started to light garbage cans and construction equipment on fire.

Some police officers even experienced getting shot by fireworks during daylight hours.

Authorities said that protests become more violent at night since there are heavy mortar fires.
On Tuesday, June 27, a total of 42 cars and two construction vehicles were destroyed and burned.

Meanwhile, 24 French police officers were injured, leading to the arrest of 31 protesters, as reported by The Sun.

What Happened to Nael?

Based on the videos circulating the internet, Nael M. was confronted by two Le Figaro police officers. During the traffic stop, one of the police was pointing a gun at the windshield in the driver's seat side.

After a few seconds, Nael tried to drive off in his yellow Mercedes. But, before he was able to speed up, the police officer fired one shot directly at the windshield.

A few minutes after the shooting, Nael's vehicle was seen crashing. This hints that the gunshot taken by the French police hit Nael, which later killed him.

French police authorities said that the teenager was already known for multiple counts of traffic stop evasions and driving without a license.

However, there's still no reason for the cop to shoot the teenager. Because of this, an investigation is now looking into an "intentional homicide" over the shooting incident.
