E. Jean Carroll is amending her remaining defamation complaint against Donald Trump, including his derogatory remarks made during a CNN town hall.

E. Jean Carroll is seeking at least $10 million in additional damages from former President Donald Trump, claiming his town hall remarks about being found liable for sexual abuse and defamation were also derogatory.

This verdict was the result of the second suit she lodged against Trump. Monday, she filed an amended complaint in the 2019-filed initial defamation suit, which is still unresolved.

E. Jean Carroll Seeks to Amend Other Trump Lawsuit

Carroll is seeking "substantial" compensation for his remarks during a CNN town hall earlier this month. CBS News said both lawsuits arose from Trump's comments accusing Carroll of lying after she claimed he sexually assaulted her in a New York City department store in the mid-1990s.

The amended complaint references Carroll's $5 million verdict on May 9, when a unanimous jury found Trump liable for sexual assault and defamation. Roberta Kaplan, Carroll's attorney, argues in a Monday court filing that Trump's behavior at the Manchester, New Hampshire, town hall demonstrates he was "undeterred by the jury's verdict" and "continued to maliciously defame Carroll once again."

Trump, who is running for president in 2024, was responding to a query regarding what he tells electors who believe the judgment disqualifies him from holding the office. Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, said, "Ms. Carroll's last-minute effort to amend her complaint reveals the true motivation behind her numerous lawsuits."

Carroll's filing in federal court in Manhattan aims to increase Trump's financial woes. On May 9, the jury in her civil case deemed Trump responsible for sexual assault and defamation.

Former advice columnist and fixture in Manhattan's media circles, Carroll, was awarded $2 million for sexual abuse and $3 million for defamation. According to NY Times, Carroll filed a separate defamation lawsuit against Trump before the same judge who presided over the civil trial.

Trump Files an Appeal to $5 Million Verdict

Carroll's attorney, Roberta A. Kaplan, disclosed in a separate letter to the judge that Trump has threatened to sue Carroll "in retaliation and possibly to pursue sanctions."

Meanwhile, Trump's media company has filed a $3.78 billion lawsuit against The Washington Post for alleged defamation of his social media platform Truth Social. Per The Independent, the lawsuit alleged that the newspaper has been on a "years-long crusade" against Trump Media, founded in February 2021.

Trump's top attorney is abandoning his legal team and accusing the former president's top adviser Boris Epshteyn of allegedly being dishonest and uncooperative in his work to assist lawyers with his defense against an investigation into whether he unlawfully retained classified documents.

A campaign spokesperson for Trump did not respond promptly to a request for comment. Last month's civil trial represented Carroll's second suit against Trump. This case was pending an appeal regarding whether Trump could be held liable for remarks he made while in office.

A Washington appeals court remanded the case to New York for additional proceedings, and it is currently pending before US District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan, who presided over the most recent trial. Trump has submitted a notice of appeal for the $5 million verdict, NBC News reported.
