"Kingdom Hearts 3" isn't on Square Enix's top priority list, but it doesn't mean the game isn't moving along in its development process.

Series producer Yoshinori Kitase told VideoGamer.com "Final Fantasy XV" is on the highest priority status at Square Enix at the moment.

"We can't give too much information but certainly looking at Final Fantasy XV, it's not as if it's in competition with Kingdom Hearts 3 for resources or anything like that," Kitase said when asked for an update on the two games earlier this week. "It's quite far into development now and it is being given a very high priority within the company itself, but that doesn't mean Kingdom Hearts isn't."

Kitase also teased how the of Xbox One and PS4 hardware allow developers to think bigger when it comes to their battle systems.

"We are quite aware of [PS4 & Xbox One's] capabilities and certainly one thing that's going to come up is having battles with a lot more participants involved," Kitase told VideoGamer.com. "Having a lot more characters, a lot more things happening, that's one of the things that the new hardware does really well, so to maybe make a battle system for a Final Fantasy game or a future game that fits with that, I think it would be quite good to have more characters for the player to control and more participants in the battle."

Kitase comments drastically differ from what "Kingdom Hearts 3" developer Tetsuya Nomura told Weekly Famitsu about the PS4's hardware back in January.

"Looking at the PS4, I thought 'they've gone too far.' I wish they would just let us off the hook," Nomura told Famitsu. "For the player, having a game that's "thoroughly made" makes them excited with anticipation, but for a developer, it's a hurdle we have to overcome."

"The number of things we have to do keeps increasing and if we keep trying to expand as far as it will go, we'll never be finished," Nomura added. "I think we're going to end up being faced with the choice of what to keep and what to give up on [for Kingdom Hearts III]."
