'Hogwarts Legacy' introduces Arachnophobia Mode, allowing 'Harry Potter' fans to enjoy the game without fearing for encountering spiders.
A new update brought a couple of performance improvements and features, particularly a new accessibility mode for those grappling with Arachnophobia.
'Hogwarts Legacy' Adds Arachnophobia Mode
According to Dexerto, the new "Hogwarts Legacy" update brings a similar accessibility feature that 'Respawn with Jedi: Survivor' introduced last week, none other than the Arachnophobia Mode.
Essentially, the new mode on the 'Harry Potter' RPG gets rid of scary spiders in the game. So if you are a Potterhead but fear spiders, the new feature is made for you.
Given the fantasy realm of the game, it includes numerous giant spider-like characters, which players would inevitably encounter. Some of the scary spiders need to be defeated to proceed. But with this new accessibility option, gamers may easily replace spiders with red-eyed floating creatures, which flaunt roller skates.
The patch notes of the updates say that Arachnophobia Mode replaces all enemy spiders. According to Engadget, the new option goes beyond aesthetic changes. It also reduces and removes the screeches and skitters of spiders, as well as the "small spider ground effect spawners."
However, it is worth noting that the new mode does nothing to the images of spiders in the Field Guide. So Potterheads might still encounter a few spiders in the background.
To get your hands on the new Arachnophobia Mode, you have to download and install the May 5 'Hogwarts Legacy' update. The new patch is now rolling out to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One users. On the other hand, Nintendo Switch users have to wait until July 25 before the game officially rolls out.
'Hogwarts Legacy' Sales Surpass $1 Billion
The 'Harry Potter' game quickly achieved record-breaking figures since its February 2023 debut. Game Spot highlights that 'Hogwarts Legacy' has already sold more than 15 million copies worldwide since it first saw the light of day early this year, WB Discovery disclosed during its investor briefing. With its staggering popularity, its sales have already exceeded a cool $1 billion.
With these numbers in mind, the 'Harry Potter' RPG is second to none in the best-selling ranking of games for 2023. Above and beyond that, it is the biggest release of Warner Bros. Games in its entire history.
When the game debuted, it already showcased strong traction, selling roughly 12 million copies in merely its first two weeks since its release. And now, it continues to soar, reaching the 15 million threshold.
Following the impressive sales of 'Hogwarts Legacy,' the game developers have ironed out tons of performance hiccups. A new accessibility feature, the much-awaited Arachnophobia Mode, rolled out too.
