Per CBS News, Scorsone described how rapidly the incident transpired. She said she only had two minutes to get her children out of the home and fled with little more than their shoes. However, the actress remained grateful as they were able to escape.

Scorsone lamented that their four dogs perished in the fire, and her message contained photographs of them, as per CNN. She said, "We are still grieving the death of our dear dogs, but we are fortunate to have had the opportunity to love them at all."

Scorsone, best known for her role as Dr. Amelia Shepherd in the successful ABC drama, has three young daughters with her ex-husband, Grammy-winning musician Rob Giles, 49, whom she will divorce in 2020. Her daughters range in age from 3 to 10 years old.

She did not provide the date of the fire, the location of the residence, or the source of the blaze. The Pasadena Fire Department acknowledged that on the evening of January 22, six fire engines went to a two-alarm fire at a single-story property in west Pasadena that was connected to Scorsone.

The fire caused substantial damage to the structure, according to the assessment. Its origin is being investigated. The 'Power Play' and '1-800-Missing' alum thanked the firefighters and investigators involved in the incident, her neighbor who "answered our frantic knocks on her door," the parents at her children's school who sent toys and books, and her 'Grey's Anatomy' and Shondaland friends who sent clothing and supplies.

In addition, she praised her sister, who came in to manage logistics so that Scorsone could be with her girls, and her staff, "who made things simpler."

The actor joined 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2010 during the seventh season of the popular medical drama.
