EU, Arab Countries Laud Restoration of Saudi Arabia-Iran Diplomatic Ties

Saudi-Iran Ties Restored 

A statement from the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry of Syria said that seeking collaboration and less tension will help the two countries achieve common goals, as reported by Almayadeen.

The Syrian Ministry says that all efforts will extend to all countries in the Middles to face the many trial and tribulations of the region. It was not just Syrian expressing their opinion, which included the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is seen as a direction toward an environment of stability and prosperity in the region.

Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Foreign Minister, met Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad to show solidarity with the Syrian tragedy brought on by the quake. One of the first prominent foreign dignitaries who visited last month, noted Reuters.

A remark from a diplomatic of the UAE president commented on Friday about the news of diplomatic ties between KSA and Tehran. Anwar Gargash posted on social media that the two nations restored bilateral ties, which Beijing mediated.

The UAE considers diplomacy significant in communication and discussion among all regional nations. It would promote good relationships that will be the basis for a stable future, cited Gulf Today. Other Arab states like Egypt and Qatar expressed hope for a better future.

EU Reacts To the Regional Event

The bloc, like other countries, sees the Saudi-Iranian diplomatic ties due to China's efforts to convince Riyadh and Tehran it's time to end differences.

Peter Stano, the primary spokesman of the external bloc affairs, stated their official position that the bloc called resumption of ties between them is a development it approves diplomatic efforts which are focused on these diplomatic overtures, as mentioned by Anadolu.

Riyadh and Tehran are the lynchpins to achieving regional security for the whole region. Brussels points to the de-escalation of conflicts that allows a path to gaining peace with a stable region. While speaking of the matter, the representative of Brussels says that it will interact and promote an inclusive approach with transparency.

Last Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping helped the two reach an end to a strained relationship lasting seven years. Their consulates will be reopened again after getting close.

Based on the joint statement issued, Tehran and Riyadh agreed to restart diplomatic ties about two months from now. The two thanked Iraq and Oman for being involved in talks during 2021 and 2022. Ties were cut between Tehran and Riyadh after executing Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr in 2016.

Saudi-Iran ties are welcomed by Arab countries as a positive move to stabilize the region. The EU also gave support to the thawing leading to closer ties.
