No consensus was reached by the G20 assembly on the war in Ukraine as Russian, and Chinese delegations opposed pro-Ukraine members from condemning Vladimir Putin's actions.

One year into the Ukraine war that still leaves the G20 assembly grasping at a consensus that will impact its already terrible relations with the Russian Federation. Many of these nations that have supported Russian sanctions pushed by the US led to ravaged energy and economic sectors. All the G20 nations are scrambling as the results of the conflict have led to undesirable effects.

G20 Assembly Divided Over the Ukraine War

On February 25, the meeting of the G20 held in India led to a no joint communique among the delegates. Finance chiefs prefer to be conservative about general opinion reports Euractiv.

It starkly contrasts the G7, which the Biden administration used as another venue to condemn Vladimir Putin in the steam-rolling of its Zelensky regime proxy. But Washington was opposed by an equally powerful tandem of Moscow and Beijing delegations not taking it sitting down. Western nations have called the Ukraine conflict a full-on war, but Moscow says it is a special military operation.

During the meeting, India, being the host, insisted that war should be omitted from any communique, noted Reuters. New Delhi is the head of the assembly, which has strayed from the influence of the Biden administration but not without attempts from Washington to exert influence by keeping a stance not dictated by anyone that says none of Russia's part in the war. Another is a diplomatic thrust to keep resources flowing from Russia, like oil.

Consensus shows that US collaborators act as Washington's efforts to manipulate Dissention comes from French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, saying the group should follow the meeting in Bali, Indonesia, last November. He says some, but not all members, want to blame Russia, cited Outlook.

Le Maire told reporters that the group should condemn Moscow or ignore the advice of India in the joint statement. Another official part of the sanctioning nations is the German Finance Minister Christian Lindner. Last Friday, like the French official, he pushed for condemning Russia, even as the body is lessening the tension that would not jeopardize the body's position.

The G20 is where arguments are increasing, especially now when interests are manipulated or dictated by a group aligned with someone. Economic conflicts were settled in the forum made twenty years back when the economic policies of the western nations clashed. The US and its allies are rallied against Moscow and Beijing.

One source says the group over the communique was hard as Russia and China hindered the allies of the Biden administration. He claimed that India sided with last year's joint statement.

There is a failure of voices echoing the US in the statement, but others block them, which shows only a few want to condemn Russia again. This will leave India to decide what to say, which differs from what Germany and France want.

Sources confirmed that this would keep the west from getting its condemnation when India makes the final communique in a deadlock. New Delhi has yet to give a response to the query.
