The GOP chair, ROnna McDaniel, claimed in an interview that the Republican Party will be united in the 2024 presidential elections, claiming that candidates would support each other and accept the results.

GOP chairwoman Ronna McDaniel claimed that the Republican Party will unite in the 2024 presidential elections and argued that former President Donald Trump would accept the result of voting despite a contrasting reality.

The right-wing lawmaker's remarks were made during an interview on Sunday and included her claims that candidates would support one another. It was her first interview since last month's contentious re-election.

Ronna McDaniel's Outreaching Claims

McDaniel seemed desperate to present a mission of unity of her party, saying that they cannot be "vicious" and "vitriolic" with each other, not to support others in the end. She added that she was already working on unifying the Republican Party.

Then, the GOP chair made several claims, including that all Republican candidates for the 2024 presidential election will sign a pledge to support the eventual nominee before they are allowed to appear on the debate stage.

She said that everyone should support the will of others and noted that the GOP would not be able to defeat President Joe Biden if they squabbled amongst each other. As per the Daily Beast, this was her reason for trying to mediate the situation early on.

However, not everyone in the Republican Party agrees with McDaniel's statements, as multiple prominent GOP members have refused to support Trump if he successfully becomes the party's 2024 nominee.

However, the most notable of these is Trump, whom earlier this month told Hugh Hewitt that his potential support "would depend on the nominee," similar to how it was in 2016. However, McDaniel was skeptical, saying that the former president would sign the pledge and attend the debate.

She said that Trump would prefer to be on the debate stage moving forward with his 2024 campaign. However, this is not the case as the former president became famous for not attending two primary debates in the 2016 run, saying that he did not like Megyn Kelly and was disinterested in debating John Kasich.

Republican Party's 2024 Primary

While McDaniel said that GOP candidates would have to sign the pledge commitment, she noted that they have not yet put the criteria out for the debate as a whole. According to CNN, she was then asked what other requirements candidates should have to be included in the debate stage.

She said these candidates should aim to become the president of the United States, not lawmakers who only want book deals, media contracts, or Cabinet positions. So far, GOP members who have officially announced their 2024 runs are Trump, Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy.

However, several others are showing interest in becoming the Republican Party's 2024 nominee. These include Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Trump's former secretary of state, Mike Pompeo.

The claim that Republican candidates will accept the results of elections also contrasts with McDaniel's successor as Michigan's GOP chairperson being viewed as an election denier. Furthermore, the speaker of CPAC's prestigious Ronald Reagan Dinner, Kari Lake, continuously claimed otherwise about election results, said Yahoo News.
