Maggie Haberman's new book makes bombshell allegations against former United States President Donald Trump, including the Republican's alleged plans to bomb drug labs in Mexico after a miscommunication with an adviser.

The situation came after one of Trump's leading public health officials came into the Oval Office, wearing a dress uniform, and said that the drug labs should be handled by putting "lead to target" in an attempt to stop the flow of illicit substances across the border and into the United States.

Allegations Against Trump

Haberman's book noted that Trump raised the idea several times, eventually asking a stunned Defense Secretary Mark Esper whether or not the US could indeed bomb the labs. The official, identified as Assistant Secretary for Health Brett Giroir, frequently wore his dress uniform for meetings with the former president.

Haberman said that the response from White House aides at the time was not to try to change Trump's view but to consider asking Giroir not to wear his uniform to the Oval Office anymore. The 607-page book is set to be published on Tuesday and details unusual and erratic interactions between Trump and world leaders, members of Congress, and his own aides, as per the Washington Post.

The book also includes behind-the-scenes accounts of the former president's time as a businessman. A Trump spokesman, when presented with a detailed accounting of the book's reporting, did not directly respond. Taylor Budowich said that while coastal elites were obsessed over anonymously-sourced fairytales, Trump was focused on saving America.

Giroir, when asked regarding the account of the Oval Office discussion, said in an email that he does not comment on such private conversations with the former president. He then criticized the flow of drugs across the border from Mexico and voiced support for substance abuse treatment.

According to Insider, Haberman's book also alleged that Trump also mistook a group of Democratic congressional staffers for waitstaff and directed them to serve dinner during the early years of his presidency. This was allegedly due to the staffers, who were part of Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi's staff, being a racially diverse group.

Book Describes Trump's Relationship With Kara Young

The former president allegedly faced the staffers and asked them, "Why don't you get" the food before former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus corrected the Republican businessman and fetched the actual waitstaff.

Within the same meeting where that incident occurred, Trump left the room silent after he said his loss of the popular vote to Hillary Clinton in 2016 was due to "illegals" or undocumented immigrants casting ballots.

The situation came as Trump has long defended his relationship with the Black community, Latino community, and other marginalized groups. He has had a long history of racist and inflammatory statements directed toward both groups.

The book also described Trump's relationship with Kara Young, a model who the former president dated for several years. She had a Black mother and a white father. Soon after Trump met Young's parents, he joked that she had inherited her beauty from her mother and her intelligence "from her dad, the white side," Rolling Stone reported.
