Rare Republican support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in relation to her potential visit to Taiwan came from Mike Pompeo, who criticizes President Joe Biden for his interactions with China.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed President Biden for not backing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's reported visit to Taiwan, saying the government shouldn't follow Hollywood's lead and pander to the Communist-led government.

In a statement released on Sunday, Pelosi announced that she will be heading a congressional delegation to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan, but she made no mention of whether she would also visit Taiwan.

Pompeo: Biden Administration Allows China To Bully US

The military feels Pelosi's trip to Taiwan, a self-governing island that China claims as its own, is not a smart idea right now, Biden told reporters earlier this month. In their conversation last Thursday, Xi Jinping warned Biden that the US shouldn't intervene in Taiwan's internal affairs, as per New York Post.

The Biden administration, according to Pompeo, is sending the message that the Chinese Communist Party may dictate how America will behave, where we will travel, and the things we will say" by enabling Beijing to threaten the US without retaliation.

After Chinese officials promised unbearable consequences if Pelosi visited the independent island under Chinese control, she does not appear to have any intentions to travel to the island democracy of Taiwan.

Her office said in a press release on Sunday that she will go to four Asian nations; Taiwan was not included. It stated that those nations will be visited but did not mention if Pelosi, who is the third in line to become president, may make more visits.

Pelosi said the US delegation will hold high-level meetings in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan to talk about how we can further advance our shared interests and values, such as peace and security, economic growth, and trade, the COVID-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, human rights, and democratic governance.

She is expected to arrive in Singapore on Monday and spends two days there. according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs national Chinese authorities, meanwhile, have warned that if Pelosi visits Taiwan, Washington would carry all the repercussions, and have promised to take "resolute and aggressive actions" against the US if the trip goes forward.

According to Zhang Meifang, China's Consul General in Belfast, in recent statements, Chinese authorities have warned that all options, including military ones, are already on the table if Pelosi goes forward with the trip.

The totalitarian government sees US officials' travels to Taiwan as a positive signal to the island's pro-independence party. Washington does not have official diplomatic ties with Taiwan under its one-China policy but is required by US law to supply the island with the tools to defend itself.

Despite rumors about Pelosi attending the trip, the White House has been eager to repeat that position. He earlier stated China's solemn attitude" on a possible Pelosi visit, telling reporters that China is ready to "take stern and robust actions to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity."

State media reported Chinese air force spokeswoman Shen Jinke as declaring on Sunday that Beijing will resolutely uphold national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Daily Mail reported.

Pomper Recently Slams Biden Administration's Potential Prisoner Swap Proposal

Meanwhile, Mike Pompeo stated that proposing to free weapons trafficker Viktor Bout in return for US basketball star Brittney Griner and another American detained in Russia, Paul Whelan, is not a smart transaction and sets a dangerous precedent.

Pompeo was responding to the Biden administration's choice to pursue a significant transaction with Moscow - one that's thought to revolve around Bout, known as the 'Merchant of Death' and serving a 25-year sentence for conspiracy to kill Americans and other offenses.

Any prisoner swap is considered a danger by the Biden administration, which does not want to promote hostage-taking or unjustified imprisonment of Americans overseas by caving to the demands of a foreign regime. The government, on the other side, is under strong pressure to return the Americans, according to the Washington Times.
