Will Smith is in India, apparently seeking recovery and embarking on a spiritual journey following the Oscars incident in which he lost his temper and slapped Chris Rock on the stage.

Will Smith is said to be on a "spiritual trip" to India to meditate, but he has yet to apologize or reach out to Chris Rock for his infamous Oscars slap.

Many Hollywood insiders are rolling their eyes as Smith, 53, insists his trip is part of his vow to do "the work to ensure that I never again allow violence to overtake reason." Ardent sources told People on Monday that Smith was "on a journey inward," one month after he shockingly slapped Rock, 57, onstage at the 2022 Oscars.

Will Smith Hasn't Personally Apologized to Chris Rock

Will Smith went to India for spiritual reasons to practice yoga and meditation. On Saturday, the actor landed at a private airport in Mumbai, India, for the first time since the Academy Awards, where he posed for photos with admirers.

Smith was all smiles when he landed in India on Saturday, his first public appearance since the notorious Oscars slap. Smith appeared comfortable and pleased after landing in the South Asian country, dressed casually in a white t-shirt, dark grey shorts over white compression tights, and Nike sneakers.

Will Smith then took a few photographs with security before turning to the supporters who were chanting his name and waving and smiling before taking a few more selfies and entering a building where he hugged someone.

This is Smith's first public appearance in over a month, after hitting master of ceremony and comedian Chris Rock on live TV in front of his co-stars when he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's buzzcut.

Will has resigned from the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Oscars, after winning Best Actor for "King Richard" at the Academy Awards last month. The Academy has barred the actor from attending any of its events for ten years.

The Smith family has kept a low profile ever since the event occurred. Will Smith was sighted in Mumbai's Kalina airport almost a month later. In Mumbai, the 53-year-old actor was seen with a spiritual guru.

For his journey to the country, the actor wore a simple white shirt and a spiritual thread around his neck. According to reports, the actor traveled to India for spiritual reasons to move on from the painful incident.

The acclaimed actor was sighted in Mumbai with a pandit on April 23, 2022. To be clear, this is not the first time Will Smith has been spotted in India; on April 7, 2019, he revealed photos from his trip to the nation on Instagram. Jada Pinkett Smith has already stated that she will not bring up Will Smith's violent outburst at the Oscars 2022 Red Table Talk, as per Republic World.

Chris Rock's Mom Speaks Out

Meanwhile, his mother has spoken out while comedian Chris Rock has been silent since being slapped by Will Smith at the Oscars. Rose Rock made an appearance on WIS-TV's Soda City Live in her home state of South Carolina.

Will Smith never apologized to her son, implying that he never personally reached out, according to Chris Rock's mom. Rose Rock claimed she was watching from her house and assumed that the scene was staged until Smith started throwing slurs at her son.

Smith's actions disrupted Chris Rock's speech; he was delighted to present the award for Best Documentary Feature to pal Questlove, according to Rose. On Sunday, Chris Rock, 57, appeared serious as he wandered across Manhattan in New York City, Daily Mail reported.
