Ukraine reiterates its request that the United States and Germany provide them with fighter jets in their ongoing conflict with Russia, after the two Western allies reversed their promise to provide tanks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has emerged as an outstanding leader and a hero. Many have commended him for his management of the war, including his rallying cries to his comrades and, most especially, his decision to remain in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, amid attacks by Russian President Vladimir Putin's troops.

Before becoming the president of Ukraine, Zelensky was beloved by the public as an actor who starred in movies like Love in the Big City, Office Romance, 8 First Dates, and Rzhevsky vs. Napoleon. Moreover, he also worked as a model and appeared in several commercials.

Being a tri-lingual person fluent in Ukrainian, Russian, and English languages, Zelensky dubbed the Ukrainian voiceovers for Hollywood films that include Paddington and its sequel Paddington 2, Yahoo! Finance reported.

Eventually, by 2010, Zelensky became more popular and regarded among the top entertainers in the history of Ukrainian television, having appeared in over 100 episodes of the country's national television network.

A Champion of Comedy

Zelensky earned a law degree from Kryvyi Rih Institute of Economics. But instead of becoming a lawyer, he became a stand-up comedian in 1997 when he won the comedy competition KVN.

In college, he formed the comedy group Kvartal 95 with his peers and traveled to different areas in Ukraine. They produced shows and other content. Eventually, the group decided to make their endeavors a real business and established their own production company in 2003. Zelensky became the co-founder and creative producer of the Kvartal 95. The company's objective is to "make the world a better place" through "humor and creativity."

Kvartal 95 emerged to become one of the highly successful production companies in Ukraine, specializing in creating many TV shows, series, films, and even animation projects.

With the success of their business locally, Volodymyr Zelensky and his colleagues from Kvartal 95, later on, established several offshore firms in Belize, Cyprus, and the British Virgin Islands in 2012, according to OCCRP.

Three and a half years after Servant of the People took off, Zelensky ultimately decided to run for president. His campaign got a lot of support from the media industry, which gave him the advantage. In 2019 he won the elections with more than 73 percent of the votes.

What Is Zelensky's Net Worth?

Zelensky is worth $1.5 million, Celebrity Net Worth reported. It says that the Ukrainian president's financial information from 2018 listed total assets of 37 million Ukrainian hryvnias, which gave him a net worth of $1.5 million, though the number changes depending on foreign exchange fluctuations.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Zelensky's salary as Ukrainian president is 28,000 Hryvnias a year, equivalent to $930 per month, for an annual salary of roughly $11,200.
