Chris Kelly, a member of popular 90s rap group, Kriss Kross, died at the age of 34. According to Billboard, Kelly was found unresponsive in his Atlanta home and taken to Atlanta Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Police were called around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday after Kelly's cousin found the rapper unconscious. The Fulton County Police suspect Kelly died from a drug overdose, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Friends and fans took to Twitter to send their condolences to half of the kid rap duo, including hit-making producer Jermaine Dupri.
Dupri found the duo in an Atlanta mall and signed the two to his record label, So So Def.
"Mac Daddy" along with Chris "Daddy Mac" Smith paved the way for kids of the 90s to openly express artistic talents. Donning backwards jeans and oversized shirts, Kriss Kross led a 90s fashion crusade.
According to ABC News, the rappers released hit song, "Jump" from their 1992 album, "Totally Krossed Out."
"Jump" became the No. 1 record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for and impressive eight weeks. The album would later reach multiplatinum status.
Rapper LL Cool J tweeted, "R.I.P Chris Kelly. This song is now officially dedicated to you. May GOD embrace your soul & lift up your family." The hip-hop legend posted a link to his new song, "Jump On It", in dedication to Kelly.
