A high school student faces serious penalties for posting a selfie with a dead body during a school field trip.

The unidentified Clements High School student posted a photo of herself on Instagram during a visit to the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Anatomical Donor Program, according to ABC News.

She snapped of shot of herself, smiling as someone peeled back the white sheet covering a cadaver, then put it online.

Once University of Alabama at Birmingham officials caught wind of the image, they immediately reprimanded the teen girl.

Spokesperson Jim Bakken told ABC that phones and pictures are not allowed in the lab. Additionally, he said, the covers over cadavers aren't meant to be lifted.

"This kind of disrespect is unacceptable and very disappointing," Bakken told ABC. "We will review our processes to ensure this does not happen again."

It's unclear whether anyone has been punished concerning the photo just yet. ABC News' local station WBMA reported students are being questioned at Clements about the event.
