The COVID-19 pandemic has turned the world upside down. The illness itself is bad enough, but when you consider the effects on the business world, the overall seriousness of the disease rears its ugly head.

While some companies struggle to maintain their footing, others are using this time to bring stability to their organization.

Enter Kelly Hyman

Kelly Hyman has held many positions throughout her career, ranging from actress to television legal analyst to attorney.  She's achieved success at every stop, thanks in large part to her ability to remain motivated, even when things aren't going as planned.

Although she's been personally and professionally affected by COVID-19, she's taken steps to keep herself and team motivated.

"Everything in the workplace has changed," said media commentary Kelly Hyman. "Everyone is stressed as the impact of COVID-19 continues to be felt globally.  In addition to combating the physical aspects of COVID-19, many employers and employees also find themselves contending with the emotional effects of the pandemic."

Motivation is a Challenge

COVID-19 has brought many new challenges to the business world, with motivating employees at the top of the list.

When working from home, especially those who aren't used to it, motivation can be a struggle.

Kelly Hyman touched on this, noting that paying close attention to your team is essential to meeting their needs.

"It is important to pay attention to your team. For example, an overwhelmed parent may need to change their hours so they can  provide childcare during school shutdowns or  a team member who is caring for a sick relative may need to work remotely. Empathetic, compassionate and  listening is required to maintain a positive work environment right now."

With so much on their plate, from doing their job to caring for their family, employees often need to be motivated. But just as importantly, they need to feel wanted.

Care for Yourself to Care for Others

To best care for your team, from motivating to helping them through personal issues, you must first take care of yourself.

"With everyone quarantined at home during the pandemic, structure is more important than ever.  So every morning, I write down my top three priorities and plan around them," Political commentary Kelly Hyman added.

COVID-19 has changed the world, but the human race is skilled at adapting. With the right motivation and approach to business, this is just one more challenge that everyone will overcome.
